My first level of professional education was becoming a craftsman - electrician. It was in the mid 60 and there were lot of houses build in Germany. New techniques started to emerge like electric drills. I had become a science fiction fan and regularly war reading Perry Rhodan.
I remember at a cold day in lat fall I was given the task to drill big holes with a big machine, it was a Skill air hammer, into the concrete ceiling. It was a dirty and hard work.
All of a sudden It crossed my mind that if I would be part of the folks from Terra (earth) and had to build a station on a hostile planet for sure I could stand the hardship. To be honest I do not remember the details of the day, but I remember the day!
