You may have wondered what happens to my writing. I have to admit, currently I am not as fast and as creative as I used to be one or two month ago, but this is a matter of discipline. Things we like and things we are good at, we like or love and we like/love to do it. If there is not enough love, but it has to be done, it needs discipline to do it anyway. The reason for the break was a flu strong enough to keep me away from the PC.
Today I want to tell you a little story. It is also the story of my ignorance and I am afraid, more than one person out there is like me.
I was asked to translate and localize an American website. I did it, they paid me and both were happy. I thought that was it! But because this company wanted to penetrate the German market they needed a person to act as a translator and a mediator between the service this company offers and the German customer. I accepted. To my surprise, beside the regular customer interaction again and again I was asked to translate, articles, search for keywords, look for different forums and the like. As I said, it is also a story of my ignorance. I was happy for the income and happy that the company did well.
I met one of the guys and he told me the story how it all started. A friend of his was about to marry. You know the problem, what to give as a wedding gift.
He got an artist who painted a picture of the couple from a photo - and this was his gift. On the wedding everybody liked the idea and a few people wanted to have it done as well.
They set up a Website looked for more artists and that is how the whole success story started.
Up to then I thought you need a good idea or a good service, set up a web page and the procedures how to run it smoothly, look for the proper people and thats it. Good ideas will find their ways to the customers, if you have the system set up nicely and the keywords on place.
Now you lean back and do your work or harvest the fruits of your work - my thoughts! Probably it was the way things worked during the pre-Internet times.
A global company nowadays is forced to do marketing in a constant level. A ranking in a search engine you have aquirred today is barely a snapshot. All your competitors want to be in front of you and if you do noting, you will fall back (in the ranking). This guys did not lean back!
Neither should you!
I think, if you want buy a turnkey business, set it up in an hour and then dream you just need to count your checks come in daily, it probably will not work! Why?
You just read why!

Procrastination (Article Marketing Part III)

This might sound like a strange title in a blog like this. Actually despite the fact that I consider myself a fairly disciplined person, I observe this trait in me. Not always, but right now.
As you might know I like writing and I like sharing my knowledge, means I love to write educational material. When we came back to the section "writing", and the topic article marketing came up, I started to procrastinate. I put it aside, then thought doing it tomorrow and then it was obvious, I did not want to do it at all.
In the end I managed and the first part about Article Marketing was written. The same happened with the part two and sad to say now with part 3. The good thing is that I am aware of. The bad thing is I do not know the cause.
The same easily can happen to you! You do not need to do article marketing! There are many other ways to make money online. It just fits nicely into the whole picture, or it is good if it is part of the structure of your business, because of the long term effect it can have.
What can we do if we encounter a problem as such?

For short term the first two work fine. But if you have a problem with procrastination in general, it makes sense to find the root cause!

OK, lets leave the field of psychology and go back to article marketing.

There is a difference if you just want to write a number of articles to support your online business, or if writing articles becomes you online business.

In both cases it is very helpful, if you plan your campaign.

Advertisements agencies plan a campaign and sh should you:

What is your goal
Which product will you promote (choose one per campaign)
how many articles do you want/need
write down the titles
write down the keywords (check their validity first)
writing style (casual, technical, funny)
deadline for submitting

If you have more than one URL, also note which URL you promote with which article! That might seem funny, but if you have 10 products and 100 articles book keeping becomes essential!

If you have a means of tracking, I suggest you do so. As long as you are not very experienced, you need to control the effect of your writing. It easily can happen that you favor a different style in writing. If you find out a certain style gets more referrals and more readers, you easily can adjust!

What have we done so far?
If you needed the money fast, you started with eBay. It would be interesting if you could give us some feedback about your experience. Here is mine: I met a manufacturer for solar products and agreed that I will sell his product in eBay and he will ship them directly from the plant. In the last blog entrance we started about Article Marketing, which we will continue today!
Article Marketing is a slightly misleading term! It is not about marketing your articles (this is important too) but marketing USING articles!
I started to mention it in my last blog: before you sign in or before you use a site, please read the Term of use!
There are two reasons for it:

You are a businessmen/woman and should be aware about the conditions
If you want to find new and creative ways to use a site or a service, you need to know the set up!

I have the tendency not to read manuals, because I think it should be obvious to use a thing or a service. I am using the internet almost since the start in 1990. Every now and then I tried to make money online, but it never seemed to work. Then a few month ago, I came across a video of George Brown where he showed me the use of Google in a way I had never seen - one of the reasons was that I never read the manual!
I also know, that all the tricks and systems you can buy were developed by smart guys (who read the manual) and they tested it and made a lot of money. Then they sold it and made even more money, but now every body is using the "tricks" and no one makes the big cash with the old tricks anymore.
So you need to find or develop new "tricks" yourself - if you want to make big bucks! But this you only can if you read the manuals and sad to say, learn the old tricks too!

OK, article writing. Before I mentioned that the title is to catch the readers attention and the SEO importance put your keyword(s) in the title!
If this happened to catch your attention you will read the first paragraph. So this is the most important! It if is boring there always is a "back button"! In Turbocashplan, the undisclosed author states that the search engines focus on the first paragraph, which means you need to repeat the keyword(s). And be informative enough to make your readers continue!
Keyword density: Most people agree that the keyword density should be less than 1 - 3%. This means in a 400 word article your keyword should not be used more than 4 - 12 times! To calculate the keyword density is simple: number of words /100 = 1 %.
Stick to it, because the search engine might punish you, if you use it to often! And if you sell the article, the buyer checks it as well. If your keyword is n every sentence, your readers may not like it!
How long should an article be? 300 to max 600 words!
Plagiarism! Do not copy and paste (from others). I think all article hosters check your article with copyscape! I suggest you check your own articles (even if you wrote them yourself) before you deliver it!

Generate free traffic! Will Article Marketing do the job?

To generate free traffic is all we want, not only Marketeers, but all who have a blog, a website or more general ,something to say. Besides SEO Article Marketing is considered one of the ways to spread furtherest, aside from real viral techniques. In the following few lines we will look at some parts. This should help you to decide to write or to find some ghostwriteres to do the job for you.
The first thing I would suggest is that you start writing an article right now. Save it and we will - actually you will - analyse it and find the things you should have avoided!
Did you write it?
The first thing a potential reader sees is your head line or your title. This means it has to be in a way that the curiosity of the reader is alerted!
Before I forget it: Why do you write? You want to earn money with it!? It takes almost as much time to write a good article as it does to write a bad one. With bad I mean an article no one reads.
You also know that almost everybody uses a search engine to find what s/he is looking for. The word for that is Keyword. and Google values a keyword that is contained in your title much better. So you need to find a catchy phrase for your readers and the keyword for your SEO!
Last week we created a web site with weebly. I did so and have a page up and running http://fortune-telling.weebly.com It is a simple site and serves as a shop to sell fortune telling training courses of Britta Kienle. As you can imagine I told my friends who had a look, but aside from that, not much traffic! So I thought article writing could do some good.
So I did some keyword research and found the following results tarot cards (450 k hits), psychic (380 k) Lenormand (201 k) Kartenlegen (300 k) und Britta 673 k)
"Wow Bitta is great", I thought, but then found out that the most hits were for the water filter!
Because the system of Britta bases on the system of Lenormand, I choose this and started to write.
Done!
What now?
Now we have to find a place to publish it - an article directory. There are several and you can choose one of the most famous ones or one that might be focusing on your niche!
Then read the what they write about the articles they accept.
Remember they are in business for many years, and they want to help you! They are experienced - you are not! Rather read their help and requirements 3 times then not at all!
Remember I was asking if article writing will do the job and generate free traffic! If it will do the job, you need to do a proper planing!

Sooner or later, it makes sense to have your own webpage!
Today I will show you a free way to get a website. Aside from being free, it is quite easy to produces one. Yesterday I created a website in about 2 hours. Have a look at the Fortune Telling site. If you do this the first time, you will take longer and that is OK!
The first step you should do is to plan it!
Maybe you should create a new folder with this project name - best under your affiliate folder.
What is the best domain name? For the planning time, put it aside first!
What is the purpose of your site? Introducing a person, a company, selling something?
How many pages do you want to have?
How will you let people know about this site? (SEO, Blog, forum)
What will be your keywords?
Which or what product(s) do you want to sell?
Do you want to accept online payment?
(Weebly has a build in shopping chart, even in the free version!)
Then get your word processor and start writing the text you want to place on the site, one page after the other!
(When you are done, take a little break. Then read it again and correct the spelling, grammar and punctuation errors. After that - run the spell checker!) You should always try to have an error free website, because a professional web site has no errors. If it has - it is not a professional site!)
Make list of the page titles! This is important from a SEO point of view. Dont call it "Home" but "Home of Mandi-Marketing", if Mandi Marketing is your companies name!
Then select the pictures! Manipulate them, crop them, change the size ( a resolution of 72 px normally is fine. Try to make the size less than 250 kb, or it will take ages for a person with a slow connection to load it!) give the picture a suitable name and save it in your new folder.
If you want to sell some products, you need to have a payment processor. You can use Paypal
Now it is time to think about a suitable domain name! (in your free version you will only create a subdomain, But they offer you your own domain name!
To you start klick on this link . Then you enter your domain name, and you are in, if this name is available!

Ok lets have a look:

This is your Dashboard! The list of icons changes then you click on an item on the upper row and when you click on the left column.

To create a page you klick on Page (in the upper row) and choose a new page. Give it a name, click "save" and you have created a page. Congratulations!

Now it is up to you, to fill the page. But it is no problem, because you did all the writing and picture manituplating already.

It is simple. You click in the left column, choosing what this page is about, the icons change accordingly! Then you just drop the proper icon in your newly created page.

To fill the "icon" is as simple: you click on it, then write or copy and paste!

When you are done, ckick on "Publish"

Continue so for every page you want to create! You can go back to each page as many times as you like and change it, just do not forget to click on "Publish", to save your changes.

The next thing to do is to go to the settings.

You see your URL, the address. You can upload a favicon (the little symbol that shows in your browser).

If you click on "SEO" you can enter your site description (What you see when you google a link) and most important the field for your keywords. Make sure they are error free too!

In "Ecommerce settings" you enter the email address of your Paypal account!

Here we go! After you have saved everything, you can go and view your newly created site life!

There is more to say and a number of things to fine tune. But if you are a first timer, you will be busy doing and understanding it all. Oh, if you are stuck there is a "HELP" button beside the publish and of course you can ask here or in our forum.

Focus and an offer to MLM Marketeers

A blog is not a training per se and I as the author I do not know how much time you spend on reading and on your new online business.
If you urgently need money I offered you eBay.
It actually is a good solution, because all the other techniques we touch you can use to promote you eBay-shop/store or activity.
But please do not start each and every thing I suggest. See yourself in a learning phase. and as you know when you are in school you are prepared for your future and you do not earn.
Learning Affiliate marketing takes time. I will guide you into the depth of Google and bing and you will wonder why you never came across it.
This week a young woman addressed me, telling me that she was into MLM and that she is sort of stuck. I guess we all know this feeling. I wanted to help her and I came up with the idea, that I personally will train 5 people.
The snag is each of this 5 people has to find at least 2 people s/he will train!
Of course there is a delay of 1 or two weeks. And this 2 (or more) people do the same!
But I am not really concerned with them anymore! I focus on my direct pupils and train them.
The best way to learn something is to teach! That is why I want them to have their own students.

Here is a link that will help you to advertise. But the short term goal is to build a down-line.
It is free to join. Once a week you get and advertising mail from your up-line - and you can send 1 mail per week to your down-line. It is up to you how many people you want to place directly under you. I suggest 2, 3 or 5 but not more. and you ask them to do the same. If they have problems filling in their slots I suggest you help them! In this system the number increase with the depth. Do you understand?
If you have 10 directly sponsored people and the only have sponsored one, you have 20 people in your down-line.
Of you sponsor 5 and each of them does the same you already have 30, and in the next row you add 125.
You could consider this as a MLM training, but it is true for each referral system. And in the internet going into the depth and focus is much more effective than just adding them directly under you.
It is also better for you! Like in big company the CEO talks to his head of departments and is not looking into each details of the daily operations.
Even if you do Affiliate Marketing, it is not so different from MLM marketing, with the exception that in Affiliate Marketing you are the head and can decide, and in MLM you have to operate within a given structure, but the operation the task at hand are very similar!

Facebook is big so lets start with twitter

Almost unnoticed by the general public, Facebook has become the second biggest power in the Net. It offers so much opportunities for marketing, that I cannot cover it in one blog. But I want to give you something where you can say: "Done!"
But then there is no "done" in marketing!
OK Twitter. It is very simple to set up an account for Twitter. Just go there and fill in the few data they are asking and go. One thing: Think about a cute name that lets people grasp what it is about and that makes it easy for them to to search for you.
Search engines like pages that are frequently updated. So I suggest you connect your Twitter account with your Website. That means if you tweed your Website is changed, but also if you change your web site it is tweeded (to your followers).
The biggest challenge with Twitter is to get followers!
As I see it there are 2 ways: you have to follow a number of people, and you have to provide tweeds, that are helpful or interesting for your followers!
If you have a store that sells things around geocaching, that is fairly easy. You can tweed events and informations about products that are both hot informations! Hot for your target group. If you deliver quality informations, you can expect that your target group - the geocaching fans - will talk about you and suggest to each other to follow you. Because you have a store, this is a wanted viral effect.
What if you have something more static?
Lets assume you are a member of Eckankar and want to spread the message with no commercial interest. Eckankar is a spiritual teaching and has a number of specific words and ideas. If your target group are the members of Eckankar, than you basically can text what is of interest inside this group. But let us assume, you want to spread the message too. In this case I think motivational messages can be of general interest. If the phrases are "internal", they might not appeal to much to the general public. So you mix it with general motivational phrases! And of course you do not use to much internal phrases like Mahanta, Saguna and the like. But you also can use this terms and explain them.
The next things you can post are the public events.
The events serve as a reminder for the members and offer an opening for the followers that got interested.
It does not really matter if you want to promote Eckankar, a Band or a Hotel. You need to be a resource person with your tweeds.
Give them information (events, explain terms), educate people (explain facts of the world around you - Did you know that 1 inch is 2.5 cm? or latest news "Tyhoon Conson kills 20 people in the Philippines"
How often should you tweed?
This depends on your industry, but not so often that the tweeds become a nuisance! One tweed a month will not create much followers and 20 tweeds a day might chase all away except the hard core followers. So the golden middle is somewhere between twice a day and twice a week!
In our example with Eckankar it could be one daily message and and on top of it, a reminder of an upcoming events.
I also suggest you make a plan what to send. First it prevent repeating certain messages to often and second it can help to direct people into a certain direction - building a desire to buy for example or a desire to know more. Second you are not pressured to find a good phrase in a hurry.
So back to the followers, how to get them!

You follow people!
You comment on their tweeds (messages)
You forward their tweeds

From a marketing point of few it is good to be recognized by a person that has many followers.
A follower gets the messages from the person whom they follow!
Twitter tells you, when someone follows you. If you are curious, you'll check their account, if you already have lots of followers, you might not even do that. But if a person from your followers send you a direct tweed, you will replay (you should if you use Twitter as a marketing tool) and maybe even check what this person tweeds about!
I know this is only a rough outline but there are a number of free ebooks in the net. Just goggle and get a more detailed insight.
Btw, when you do the planing, maybe you also should give yourself an hour or so to find suitable people to follow! It is a continuous thing - marketing!

Keywords and how to use them to your advantage

You know keywords, diba? It is the thing you use in SEO , when you create a Web page in the meta tags. Yes!

But maybe you should go a stop back. You are into sales and marketing. So what do you think is better to hope people will look for the keywords you provide, or if you could find the keywords people are actually using?

The latter of course!

Google helps you to understand and to be successful in your advertising, because if you are successful, you do it again and Google earns! Take advantage of this! Google teaches us the technique (how to use or apply it) but you need to be creative to use this "techniques" to your advantage, or to reach your goal. And how to you do this?

Google (and some others)

You see you enter a key word and the tool offers you a list of similar keywords.

Best of all it shows how often this words were used in a search. that is already a great help. yes there are tools and you can find them on a search engine,

I use Word pot.

You enter your search expression and hit the enter. The tool then gives you suggestions for similar words and how often they were used in a search.

I am using here mainly Google, but of course if you prefer Bing, yahoo or any search enginge, basically it is the same!

How does this affect our business? I think greatly! Before we were guessing what keywords we should use, and now we know what people are looking for and can build our marketing strategy

around a known fact! If we do this in time, we do not only use the keyword, but we can adjust the strategy to be taylor made.

But if you look at the picture and the section directly left of this line, you the that the terms are nor static. They change! This means you have to be alert and change your strategy or adapt it at least, but if you are a service provider, it also gives you an argument to sell your services on a regular base and not only as a one time service.

So I kindly ask you to apply this new piece of knowledge. If you have old programs that do not harvest as much as you expect, have a look at them and adjust the keywords and look what will happen.

Of course if you do a new campaign, you never should do without first doing a keyword search. This is also true if you write a blog or write articles. Check the keywords before you start writing!

Way back:

My first level of professional education was becoming a craftsman - electrician. It was in the mid 60 and there were lot of houses build in Germany. New techniques started to emerge like electric drills. I had become a science fiction fan and regularly war reading Perry Rhodan.

As you have seen in my last post, list building usually does not happen over night.

I admit this is one of the draw backs if you start a business with no or very limited funds.

You have to substitute the service you can buy by learning to do it yourself, and other things by time. So in a way it is true that time is money - the other way round, as it is normally used!

One thing you know, but I want to mention:

Do you know a sure way to fail in affiliate marketing?

Yes, you are right, to give up!

Have you made a plan for your affiliate marketing business?

You know one of the very important things in a business plan are the dead lines!

Give yourself 9 to 12 month at least!

With me I observed an interesting fact: sometimes I learn something and "know" it. A while later - that can be after a night of sleep or some days - all of a sudden this knowing become "understanding". This might happen in Affiliate Marketing as well. After all it is not as easy as copy and paste!

Back to the core of affiliate marketing:

What are you doing in the web?

Do you got to certain pages regularly?

You go there because you like the place or you gain something!

Check it, maybe this site has an affiliate program!

Even if you do not get much out of it, you can learn and make experiences.

If you are smart, you write down what you do and what the results are!

If you do it as a sideline and if you do not do the internet marketing on a daily base, you will forget a lot of things!

And you know, mistakes we forget, we are likely to repeat!

I mentioned Click Bank and Commission junction before, because these are the places where people go for affiliate marketing as promoters and as sellers. If you have a product and do not know how to market it, go to click bank and offer it. You have to pay a one time fee of about 50 $ that is ~2200 peso.

It is also a great place (both are) to learn a lot about internet marketing.

Have you read it? Read it again! Whenever I go there, I learn something new, often something I did not understand the first time!

You can find a product to market in Click bank or Commission Junction but you also can find affiliate programs with many other big internet companies eBay, Amazon, PayPal to name just three. If you google, you get about 53,000,000 hits! This should give you enough options.

Learn the product you choose, get as much information as you can.

Then sit down and develop a strategy to bring customers to your vendor!

Keep a form of dairy! Sketch down where and what you did! And what the results were.

You will make MISTAKES! and that is good, as long as you learn from it!

I also suggest you do not start with your dearest product! If you learn to build a house you will start simple and be prepared for flaws.!

The Money is in the List

Last time we were talking about list building with the example of geocaching. Probably you still do not see the importance of a list.
If you have a list of all the people who bought from you in ebay, and now you get a very new navi to sell. It is expensive!

If you place it in eBay you might sell it. Now lets assume you write a sales letter to all the people who bought a navi before? You do not sell it directly to them (but you could of course) but put a link to the sales/bidding page in ebay.

Even if there are only 10 who bought a navi before, they might bid and raise your profit!

If you have a list with 1000 people interested in geocaching, you can send then an email to inform then about new developments and every now and then a sales letter and if only 5% buy each time, it is a nice income!
The bigger the list, of course the bigger the income!

So how do you create a list? Here I refer to a list that is bigger than your personal friends!

In MLM as well as in the internet marketing and affiliate marketing you only can make a living if you leave your circle of friends and family! This hurdle my be the cause why many fail in MLM and in Internet Marketing and Affiliate Marketing!

So how do you get a list, if you do not know anybody?

The first and most simple step is to ask your friends and family members to send their friends who might be interested.

Write a invitation (nice sales letter) for your friend and family members to pass it on to their friends!

But there is an important step before!
You need to have something to offer! Ideally something that they want to have!

And what can that be?

A blog
a newsletter
autoresponder
a web page
software
goods in YOUR store
goods in a store you are affiliated with *

* If you want to build a list you need to have a sales page or a squeeze page, where they leave their email for you! If you send them directly to your affiliate store, you earn money, but you do not build your list!

Be creative think up something!
One thing you should be aware off: You need to attend to your list! If you get a spam complain,t this might give you a lot of problems!

So if a person no longer wants emails from you, take the name off the list. Actually you should have an option that people can unsubscribe! The better the info you provide and the more targeted it is, the less will unsubscribe.

But there are are natural fluctuations. If I am about to become a father, I will subscribe to a Baby blog. But when it grew and is a child, I am no longer into babies!

This also is (not important at the start) something you should attend to: Your and your products have to evolve! Grow with your customers!

How to make and run a list?

Well you can create your own list using Calc (from the free office suit) or you can get some special software.
You need some information Name and email and interest are the most important. If you make a little Calc sheet (like excel sheet but free) add some extra fields for things you learn later (what he bought and when, or if he made comments)

Please Note:

If you treat your list like buyers only, the response could be meager. If you build trust and they appreciate your service/info your affiliate marketing business will take off like a rocket (very slow at first!!)

The last blog was interesting stuff. Do you agree? When I came across it the first time, I thought what is that all about, that was in my pre-marketing days. Then I forgot all about it and it resurfaced about one or two month ago. I found it awesome and knew I would have to come back to fully check it.

Maybe this applies to you to!

Ok eBay.

I recently suggested it to a friend who is moving to get rid of his old stuff through eBay. He had problems registering. I don't know if it was his email, but in the end we succeeded.

Did you register? If so you saw there is a www.ebay.com.ph you probably also saw a warning! It is sad, but it seems that more than average people here try to cheat. If this is your business model, I pity you! To be honest is, on the long run, the best. And this I think you should try to achieve. Get good ratings and people start trusting you and you can create a constant living.

Let me do a little detour. If you cheat people and think it is ok because you can go and repent and your sins are nullified, think again! If there is a God, and if life has a meaning and a purpose, this God would be quite ...... if he would not look behind this game. What is if there is no sin, but karma? Karma rather means if you cheat you will be cheated. Think about it!

Back to eBay. If you want to generate a steady income, then you need to get a good rating and this only happens if you do what you have agreed to do.

The Philippines are Islands. Why do I mentions something so obvious? It is transport! If you sell something you have to transport it to your customer. you either have to send it via ship than it takes time or via airfraight then it is expensive!

Did you read the Rules and policies? sorry, but if you want to make it your living you should have a look at it.

Let's make a business plan! You don't like?

They say, if you don't make plan, you plan to fail!

If you only want to open a barber shop, I agree, there is not much to plan, you sit and wait for customers and if you are lucky you will survive. But if you want to have a successful Barber shop, you need some thinking and a plan!

So get a sheep of paper:

1. Question: How much money do you want to make in 2 years from now with eBay (per month)

Be serious and think what you really want and need! Don't say 1 Million but neither 1000 peso!

2. Q. How much money do you want to make in 4 weeks from now!

( Let it be between 500 and 5000 peso, remember you need to learn first!)

3.Q. What do you want to sell? Let us assume you say second hand (fake) i Phones from China.

4. Q. How much does it cost you?

4.1 Q. Where do you get them

4.2 Q How much is shipping and handling?

Let us assume you need to go to a Pawnshop, who will give you the phones, that are not taken back. But it costs you money and time to go there. You need to go there and take snaps and make a list about the conditions of the cells outside and inside.

And if you do not sell new ones, you need to check each unit! Pay attention to details! This will make you a good rating, or cost you a raiting.

Now calculate! Buying 2500 (for the pawnshop) your travel expenses 100. Lets say you want to make a profit of at least 250. This means you start the bits at 2850! You could start at 2600, but then in the worst case you earn nothing!

So if you sell the phone at 2850 you hit your goal. If you you get more, all that is your bonus! Do not calculate with your bonus! You might get it or no!

Back to question 2! Assuming you said 2500 peso, you profit is 250 per phone, so you need to sell 10 phones! That makes 2,5 Phones per week.

Next question: Do you have 10 phones to sell or do you have to find another source? Or sell another phone?

Think about this and find a solution, because this is what a business plan is all about. And if you think you cannot sell 10 phones a month, look for some other goods!

What if you sell some phones for much more?

I think I did not mention, but you have to pay eBay for its service.

Back to your question: put this money aside! Use it for business investment like a Notebook to be able to work from home or to buy a camera, to make better pictures!

Are you serious about becoming an affiliate marketeer?

If "yes", consider this as thew beginning phase of your new and successful company.

The first steps in founding a company is to learn about the industry and then to set up a plan.

Remember I asked you to think about a niche you want to work in, a nice you know something about and a nice you can enjoy interacting and learning.

I asked you to find 5 niches. Do you remember?

Let us work with my favorite niche "geocaching". Searching for it Google shows 5,550,000 hits

While you enter the word in the search box in Google, it shows you other search terms like "geocaching supplies" which gives 2,380,000 hits.

Going to click-bank and looking there brings "0" results and the same is true for commission junction.

Going back to look in Google again, this time we search geocaching +affiliate and get it brings about 76,000 results. But in about 10 min I did not find a suitable link.

This means to me it is a dead end. but I want to be sure so I go and get the Google keyword tool that is connected to Adsens. Click here and you will end at one of your most important sites in your new business! you easily can google it looking for keyword tools.

Enter geochaing and hit search and you will get a list of keywords that are similar or connected to "geocaching" but you also see how often the individual words were looked up during the last month! This is very important to you. For sure you want to use the keywords with the higher search frequency!!

You can refine the search by clicking on advanced. I suggest you bookmark this page, and use it to "play" around with keywords of your own niche!

Did you observe that, if you enter your keyword, you get a list of related keywords, but if you enter one of the related keywords, you get a different list of key word suggestions?!

Play around with it and find the most suitable keywords and then optimize your affiliate program for it!

What shall we do with "geocaching" and our wish to become an affiliate in a growing market?

I am sure you have heard about Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. They are The Three kings in the new Web 2.0

Last week I got two informations that stood out in my mind. I mean maybe I saw it before, but last week it highlighted, and that normally mean that my subconscious mind it working on something.

The first info was that Facebook has about 450,000,000 profiles (worldwide.) It hit me, that this is a huge number. People with a Facebook profile are fairly well educate and "modern" and most likely have a certain buying power.

The second info was that Facebook got more visits than Google.

Bringing this two together leads to one serious conclusion!

Seriously consider Facebook (web 2.0) as a means for your marketing efforts!

Do you have a Facebook account? Are your a freelancer? Well read this blog and learn to use it to your own advantage!

Do you have a Facebook and a company, or want to start a company, or want to use your Affiliate business with fb?

Start and setup a new profile.

Facebook is a great thing to reach a big audience, but it is also a good way to find information! In Europe there is a discussion ongoing as to how much rights of privacy does the individual have and need in the age of fb and Web 2.0!

If you want fb for business purposes, set up a new profile and be on the save side.

But please, do not just start and stumble!

Imagine you could not do it yourself. Or I pay you to get it done by a pro! You have to write down what you want to be done and how! At first this seems like an extra work, but if you want a well functioning "income driver" you need more than 3 wheels and a frame. Do you get my point? If you just start in Web 2.0, there are a lot of things you do not know yet, but you might want to add later. So if your plan is well thought, you easily can add on other things, or even integrate the Facebook into you big concept!

One of those things you want to integrate is Twitter.

When I came across Twitter the first time I thought what a silly idea! This idea still lingers somewhere in my mind, but I also see that like a SMS you have a look at it, don't even need to read it, because it is so short, you can grasp it with one look. So it is a cute reminder.

And one aspect in marketing is to keep the awareness for a product or a brand high!

Twitter is also very viral!

Viral means free advertising!

The challenge is to build enough followers, to let it have an effect on your marketing!

The third king in the new web is YouTube. I am sure you have watched at least a film or two.

It is highly viral two. If you have a program and add a video to it and place it in You Tube for sure you have a much bigger exposure! If you make a funny movie for or with your program/product it will spread like a bush fire!

You cannot do it?

If you have the idea, you always can find some people who want to earn some money and probably can do it much faster and much better than you (Don't get hurt! I think I am a great driver, but I expect Michael Schumacher to be much better, if you know what I mean!).

There is another point to it: If you want to become a successful Marketeer, you need to be able to delegate work! We just now do all ourselves, to limit the start up costs!

The Three Kings in Web 2.0 might only be a start there are others like Digg, that can assist you in getting free traffic by using your brans and not your wallet!

Techniques:

Maybe you wonder what I mean by that. I also could call it "tricks", but it is not a trick but more knowing the details.
This "tricks" were actually the cause why I started to be interested in the online marketing. Being a nerd I use computers since the 80s and the Internet since its dawn. So I thought I knew the net and the techniques fairly well. I came across a video about internet marketing and the guy showed a trick I was not aware! And it impressed me!

Remember we started with eBay for the people who need cash fast.
Have you registered? It is not really important, but if you try to sell a product, you want to get as much income from it as possible. You can choose the duration meaning when the bidding will end.
The shorter the duration, the faster you get your stuff sold and the faster you have the money, but the less people know about it and you might not fetch as much as you could if you extend the duration.
You also can make more money, if you advertise the sales outside eBay!
Another point to consider it the fun factor.
That means toward the end of the auction, that is where the most bids take place. Now imagine your auction ends at 3 in the morning. You bet not to many people will be online by that time.
But lots of eBay fans go online after work, so ending at Friday 6 to 12 pm probably has a lot of bidders!

For me this is one of the beauties of IM or Affiliate marketing.
You can use brute force to reach your goal (pay money) or you use your brains and find ways that are free or at least cheaper.

If you use eBay from the Philippines you might have problems selling internationally, because the Filipinos have earned themselves a bad reputation!
This means before you can sell internationally and make a considerable amount of money, you need to build trust!
Trust in this case means getting recommendations and having a clean record from the start!

If you are one of my international readers: The Filipinos are not bad people! Not more than in any other country. But the lawenforcement has its weakness here. So the "successful scammers" are not locked away, but continue and become experts.

The internet started about 20 years ago. I was running a bulletin Board by then. When I saw the Internet the first time I instantly knew this was the future. Mainly words with some pictures, but the words could be formatted and that was a huge step forward in customer friendliness.
In the meantime we have much more bandwidth and reached what is called Web 2.0.
But writing still is the easiest and cheapest way to create content - maybe making photos with your mobile or camera is as easy.
We are here to make money, remember. What has writing to do with making money?
If you like to write, you can start working and earn as a writer and get paid almost instantly. Here is a link!
The big advantage is that you have no up front payment, but after the project is done and the customer payed you you have to pay about 10 % for their service. I also see a lot of people looking for writers and looking for writers from the Philippines!
Do you know why we will write?
We will write interesting things, to funnel or channel traffic to our sites.

The first thing that comes to mind is to write the content of your web page.
Then you should write articles as part of your web site for SEO purposes, in short the get a better ranking in the Search engines.
Then you can write a blog that is also something static, meaning you need to find a way that people come to read your blog.
The next option is to write articles (which contain your links) and distribute them to Article directories

But there is more to write!

You need to write emails for your autorespondser(s)
You need to write landing pages (let's say you write an article about Geocaching and have a link for a special tracking device. You do not send them to your homepage, but to a landing pages, which is a pre-sales letter and there they find a link to the sales page of the company you are affiliated with.)
You need to write "thank you" letters
You can write content (things you want to sell like ebooks)

Each sections follows certain rules and in each section you can become an expert.
If you look at this blog, it is basically a character desert, no pictures! I do not want to distract you. If you have a photo or a mobile with a good camera, make snaps and uses them (ideally connected to the niche)! The pics might not bring you a better ranking, but they make it more fun to read for your prospects.
If it is to much for you to do ( that is my excuse) maybe you have a friend who likes to photograph and would be happy, if you offer him a way to get exposed.

What can you do, if you do not like to write?
You can hire a writer as described earlier. The bad thing is this costs money.
Like with the pictured, maybe you have a friend or a relative who likes to write. Why not join forces?
You start your affiliate business together! And you share the income!
It is a win-win situation!!

And what will you write about?
Did you do your homework with CLICK BANK?
Have you already decided which niche you want to start with?
Think about it (talk with your writer, if you have joined forces) and search the net for similar blogs!
Most likely, whatever you choose, there is already something there!
No, this is no reason to get depressed, it is a challenge!
Look at these blog(s), analyze them and think about a way to be different!
You write to get readers and bring them to your sales pages! You need to write 1 to 2 articles per week! When I started, I could write a max of 2 articles per day. So consider it will take time or cost you money to get the articles written. Consider an article between 300 and 500 words

Secret teaching: If one of the blogs has many followers, have a look at the keywords and use the same! As far as I know there is no copyright on keyword usage (yet)!!

There are a number of sites where you can start a blog for free. Blogsphere from Google or word press to name just two. There are others you can google them. I have a blog at word-press (http://makelovework.wordpress.com ). I think the functionality of the blog is better at wordpress, but it is up to you to decide. With Google you have some other goole features that are nicely integrated

So what are your tasks today?

Look again at your chosen niche
Find blogs that address the niche "community"
think up or steal your keywords
Open a blog account
Introduce yourself - make it personal to build trust, but remember you want to sell and not confess!
make a plan what to write the first 3 month

One last but important thing for today!
Start writing down you user names and passwords! Use a program like keykocker or use a notebook (mobile phones go well too), but hide it! soon the notbook will be more worth that your bank account!

Commitment and first steps in Click Bank

Ok, now we will start with the Affiliate marketing in the truest sense. We will use Click bank, but if you want you can go to Commission Junction as well. I will use CB, because I am more familiar with.

So go to click bank and look around, maybe you should go to Commission Junction as well and look around! In CJ the affiliates are called advertisers.

Today we will create a an account at click bank, and if you do not have an account with Paypal. I mentioned paypal as the payment processor in the article about eBay where you need it for receiving the money as you do here. What I did not mention is that you also need to connect it to an outlet here in the Philippines. It is nice to have money on your PayPal account and you can pay with it in the Internet, but sometimes we need cash! To connect or verify your Paypal account you have to link it to your bank account or to your credit card(s). Verification with the bank account takes about a week! If you have a smart money card (I guess it needs to be one with your name) you could try it it works. It would be very convenient and please let us know!

So go to click bank and to marketplace, look at the categories and choose 5! Write them down!

I am more specific here, because it actually influences all of your IM activities for the next few weeks and month. But you cannot really make a mistake, which could not be rectified! Now give them marks. The one you like most you five a 5, the second gets a 4 and so on. Then you mark your knowledge about the area again the one you know most gets a 5, the second a 4 and so on. Add the two figures and you have a your ranking. Delete the two areas with the lowest ranking. For a start we will work with the area with the highest ranking.

Let us suppose the winning area is cell phones.

A good choice because it is a growing market and the young people like their phones and hence are willing to spend for it!

Lets choose ring tones, because there will always be a demand for new ring tones like there is always a need for a new hit song!

So what you need to do is to open an account in Click Bank and a Paypal account. then you read and try to understand what is written in click bank. If you don't like the reading use the videos, if your internet connection is fast enough!

This is a big assignment, so take a rest in between! Or spread it over several days!

As you have seen, if you need money within a short time, sell on eBay!

Let us make a little plan and in a way add a deadline!

Give yourself 1 month to learn the basics!

After this month you start to advertise AND continue to learn!

Let us set a step to make 10$ until the end of the first month, if we do not reach it, no problem

But our deadline is to have 100$ (4500 php) at the end of the 3rd month which will be a monthly income!

The goal and task for the 4th month is to make another 100$ (recurring) and of course still learning! Can we agree with that?

List building with geocaching as an example

Do you have a hobby? Do you have friends who share the same hobby? Are you fond of your hobby? I mean, do you spend a lot of your money for this hobby? Do your friends do the same? So I also assume to a certain extend you are an expert in this field!
This could easily be the start to a successful business! Lets assume your hobby is Geocaching
(but it really can be anything else).
Because this article is about list building you put the name and emails of your friends in a list and name it Geocaching and you started the list building! Now this friends are probably not enough to make a living from.
This is one of the mistakes most new marketeers make, no matter if they start a stall, an MLM business or an online business. Limiting yourself to the circle of friends! If you want to be successful you need to acquire new people!

Geocaching is a trend sport, so the changes are high, that more an more people will join and need gadgets, tools and more general: help.
So you offer this help in a weekly newsletter or ezine. People get it, if they sign up and leave their email. With each email your list grows!
You could ask for a paid subscription (a direct income stream) or you give the letter away for free, but sell space for advertising (another way to generate income) or/and you send your subscribers another letter, where you offer certain products and make money by selling this.
If you hurry this is a brand hot market.
Remember when Nokia placed the N95 in the Philippines they made people create maps of the NCR. Besides having fun, you also can do some community work, by tracking places and deliver it to Openstreetmaps, a service that allows you in turn to use their maps for your own purposes!
With new smart phones, which often have a GPS capability, more and more people enjoy this form of treasure hunting!
Most likely you would need your own web page (we talk about that later), but because it is a new thing probably the list would grow fast!
It would be a very good list! Do you know why?
Probably the people in this list are young, have a good income and most likely a good education too.
Due to the age the list could be used for many years and potentially over the years they would be interested in a big variety of goods!
Do you get the idea behind a list?
Geocaching was just an example. You can create a list of whatever you want. But if you are smart, you also look at the potential.
To create a list of people who want to buy a gasket could be a very limited list and good for very limited sales: a gascet, a place in a grave yard and maybe, but only maybe, an insurance. You see the difference compared to the list of the geocaching people?

To become practical: Where actually do you get the email addresses for your list.
- the list of your friends
- the friends of your friends (you ask them to recommend you)
- you create a website for geocaching ( or your hobby)
- you write articles
- you write an ezine
- you write a blog
- you initiate a geocaching tresure hunt and tell people about it
- you put an ad and inform people about it and ask for their email to send answers/invitations

To be honest, I like the idea! If you want to start, count me in as a business partner or as a member!

I was wondering how I can set all this up to make it not to complicated.
The general topic of the blog is to generate income without investing. This soon boils down to affiliate marketing! How can I keep you interested and how do you benefit most, if you just start anew and how to keep you interested even if we have to cover a topic that is not directly yours.
I will start writing about the following topics;

General
eBay
List(building)
Affiliate Marketing /Click bank)
Writing
Techniques
Social Marketing Web 2.0

If I reach 7, I start again with 1.
The first post about a topic will be fairly general. With each following post I will go deeper into detail or branch out and go into detail. What I call writing has the branches Blog writing, article writing or creative writing meaning you write something you want to sell or give away. Do you think that makes sense?
If you have a better idea, let me know!

BTW consider this the general theme, that should have come before the eBay article.
Out there in the net in the area of affiliate marketing there is one very big danger and that is information overload!
If you gather some information yourself, please limit yourself to Wikipedia, the eBay pages and to click Bank pages (at the moment!). If you know all of this 3 sites and know how to apply it, man you can start earning well! If you connect to any affiliate marketing Guru now, you easily might fall in the trap and get an information overload!One thing you also should be aware if one of the Guru found a gold mine, meaning a technique no one used be fore he probably made a lot of money. Then he gave it to friends and they made good money too! then they sold the idea in a course or an ebook and the more people use it the less a single person gets. When they give it away as a free ebook, chances are, that the claim is getting dry already.

Now let me show you how all this fields a connected:
A) The list is basically a list with emails. You know the people with this email are interested in Topic 1 and topic 2 not so much in topic 3.

B) you tell this people that you sell a good in eBay or bring them to your page of your affiliate marketing activity.
There are other ways, but the list is one of them and it is a fast one! (when you already have the list!)

C) Writing: You write articles or a blog or comments to send people to your "sales page" or to generate a list or expand it!

D) Web 2.0 which includes Twitter, face book and others, again send people to your sales page or serve you in list building.

E) With Techniques and General we do more the fine tuning. Before I mentioned "sales page" this is an important step in affiliate marketing and can be helpful, if you work as a seller for eBay. Keyword, where to find it and how to use it belongs into this category as well. Keywords are important for writing and Web 2.0 as well as for your sales page, home page and blogs, even your articles sell better or generate more traffic, if you know how to handle the keywords properly!

As promised Ebay to start with

As I said, Ebay is a way to generate an income almost instantly - Buy and Sell!
And because you have no money to start with, you could sell some old stuff and might find a collector. Actually that is how it all started. Have a look at wikipedia and learn about the history of one of the biggest success stories in the internet.
If you have no old stuff to sell, because all things were taken by typhoon ondoy, you could go to the next store, look for ONE item you think would sell well, calculate your prise and try to sell it.
If you could not sell it, you got some experience! and might be more successful the next time. What I meant was, you do not need to sell your own stuff, you also can sell for a commission. Actually in Ebay you bid and you win then you pay and after that you get the stuff.

Meaning you could get the money of the customer, run and buy the item and send it to him.

In Ebay you can buy and sell a huge range of items. Have a look!
This means you can sell collectibles, antiques, your old computer or cell or brand new stuff.
And what do you need? you need an account by ebay - you need to register, and you need a means to pay and get payment. I suggest Paypal but for local deals smarmoney or Gcash are a better means. You also need to deliver your goods which means you need to pack and post it.

So go and open an ebay account an Paypal account and I suggest you open an email account just for this business purpose. And I suggest you get a Gcash and a SmartMoney card.

Now let us suppose you want to sell the old cell of your friend. He wants 2000 Php.

You get all the stuff together, clean it and make it look as good as possible.

Then you take a few pictures

Start to describe it. Be honest!

Ebay has a rating system and if you trick a buyer he can give you a bad rating and it might become difficult to sell a second or further items.

Ok, the next important question is where do you start your

List your expenses:

Cell 2000

packing handling 100 (you need a box and type and need a ride to go to the post office)

So, you should offer a starting price of 2100 Php.

If people bid and you get 2500 your profit is 400 peso!

If you sell one piece each day it is a nice income for a start. But if you need to go to a cafe you have to deduct this from your income.

What I wanted to demonstrate is that you can make money within a very short time.

Of course there is more to learn than what I just wrote. We will see to it later

I admit it is a little confusing. Little? Ok it is confusing!
Let me give you a little overview:
The holy grail of affiliate marketing is to generate traffic or to funnel it to your site and to the site of your payee!
It is easy to find products you like and products that help your "customers". It is easy to find products at Click bank or Commission junction. feel free to have a look, but please do not start! there are a lot of things you should consider to be successful!
One thing most successful people recommend to be successful is to have plan and to know your field/product!
No matter how badly you need money wait and learn!
One thing that is essential in this industry is traffic! Most likely you do not have enough friends to generate a rush. so the first step you should do is to make friends. and no do not try to sell to them anything just make friends.

Ideally no! Lets suppose you are interested in diving. And there are some affiliate programs in that niche. So if this is an area you like, make friends and share your liking. Does not matter if it is diving, fishing, traveling, cars, toys, cooking, embroidery name it!
But you should get their contact details, ideally the email address.
Consider this your homework! But it is really an essential part of this approach!
Ideally make a separate list!
What you start doing is making a list with people that might be in need of one of the goods or services you will be earning and income with!
You will have list of people and no need to pay Google for it. It is free, but it costs time to get them!
Actually this is where the smart internet marketeers and the smart affiliate marketeers grow!
it is also the challenge, how to make a list, how to generate followers with little or no costs!
Here comes a list or sectors where you can find or generate friends and followers:

Of course the selling section is the area with the fastest income!
If you know from the start ebay is for you, you can forget all the other sections and focus.

Do you have a Plan B?

I did not and that is why I am here!

Do you know what is as important as a Plan B? A trigger! Something that tells you now it is time to start switching plans.

Of course I did not have, because without Plan B you don't need a trigger!

I was running a quite successful business, that dwindled when the crisis hit earth. I had some savings and a lot of trust, so I was fairly calm, after all I had expected a worse scenario.

Probably I am also arrogant!

At an already fairly low level of my savings, I thought about a Plan B, hoping it would save me. Well it did not! So now I am at Plan C!

To make one thing clear at the start, Plan C is not less valuable then Plan B, it is just for a different scenario!

The Scenario: A person (you and/or me) is not employed and has little or no money to invest!

Options:

1. Look for employment (hight and age limits and it costs money too)
2. Starting a business (costs money and takes time)
3. Starting as freelancer (good option, may take time to find customers)
4. Becoming an affiliate (No professional education needed, can start right away needs some learning)

What is that an Affiliate or affiliate marketing, sometimes also call AM.?

Affiliate Marketing is a smart development, that creates a win- win situation between the Affiliate and the company.

A simple example: You repair Panasonic TVs. As you will find out later, if people have a defect TV they look for TV repair and not Panasonic TV repair. That means if you buy Adsense from Google you will have to pay for many clicks of people who have a TV from Sony or another brand.

Now a smart Internet marketeer creates a webpage that offers links to you, the Panansonic repair man, but also to a repairman of Sony, Universa, Bavaria and all the other brands. Then He calls you and all the others and ask you how much you pay him for each customer he brings you. You agree to a prise that is much lower than what you had to pay to Google for Adsense. Now this affiliate goes to Google and buys the search term "TV repair" as you did before and pays basically the same as you did.

You had lots of losses because of Sony and co. And he? Well he is an affiliate of Sony and the others too, so he has very little losses, because he can send the customers to the proper repairman!

This is a scenario where affiliate marketing creates a win-win situation for all involved! Even Google wins, because without the affiliate the Panasonic repairman would have given up, because it would have been to expensive. The customer wins, cos with a few clicks he is at the repair site. The repairmen get their customers to a better price and you the affiliate make money buy helping all the parties involved.

Ha, you got me! I need money to pay for Google!

Yes in this example!

But there are ways! Without the use of Google you could bring demand and supply together!

If you TV is broken and I have a link under my block for TV repair for sure you would click!

Do you understand? If I write a block about TV or TV repair and you read it or even if you find my Blog in Google, if you click on the link under or in my Blog, I do not have to pay to Google but get my commission from the repairmen!

This basically is my Plan C!

You do not have enough information to say it is good or bad, so please refrain from it!

If you must think, think about the options you can guess. You also could think about which niche, which sector or theme or goods you would like to be an affiliate for!
